Transifex
AI-first localization platform for software, apps and websites
Transifex is a translation & localization tool for Developers and Enterprise, offered as paid. Founded in in 2009. Popular alternatives include Locize.
About Transifex
Transifex is a cloud translation management system (TMS) for localizing software, apps, websites and digital content. It grew out of an open-source project Dimitris Glezos started in Greece in 2007, became a company in 2009, grew into a platform used by companies such as HubSpot, Atlassian, Vodafone and Quora, and was acquired by London-based XTM International in January 2025; the product is now branded XTM Transifex. Its core job is to pull source strings from code and content, translate them with AI or people, and push translations back.
Continuous localization runs through GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket integrations, a CLI and API, Transifex Native for fileless over-the-air string delivery, and a no-code Live mode for websites. AI translation now runs on XTM IQ, which grounds output in your glossary, memory and style guide, while TQI scores quality and routes only risky strings to human review. The Scale plan includes unlimited seats and projects plus SSO.
Transifex fits SaaS and app companies with frequent releases that want localization wired into CI/CD. Pricing is quote-based, so small teams cannot start self-serve, and third-party machine translation engines are not part of the plan. Lokalise and Crowdin offer transparent self-serve tiers and strong developer workflows, Phrase covers software strings and document translation, and Smartling targets enterprises that want managed translation services.
After the XTM deal, pricing moved from seat-based tiers to usage: you pay per source word XTM IQ translates, and human review or post-editing does not count.
