About ShogunAI
ShogunAI is a personal AI assistant for the Mac from Select, Inc., a company based in Tsukuba, Japan, with Toru Tano as representative. It passively captures what you work on, keeps the sources, and lets you ask questions across mail, meetings and notes, then helps you act on the answer.
Holding the right Option key drafts a continuation in your own voice inside the current app. It takes live meeting notes with a recap and next steps without storing audio, offers two-way live translation, a daily brief, meeting prep, reply drafts and dictation, and requires your approval before any email or message is sent. Visual recall of past screens is off by default, encrypted and auto-deleted after one to seven days, and apps or sites can be excluded. Answers run on your own Anthropic or OpenAI-compatible key, or on installed Claude, Codex and Gemini CLIs. Standard costs $62 a month and Pro, which adds memory in other AI tools and action approval, costs $124, both with 20% off annual billing.
It suits consultants and founders who switch between many apps all day. Granola focuses only on meeting notes, and Raycast AI is a launcher with chat rather than a memory. ShogunAI is Mac only (Apple silicon, macOS 14 or newer), Gmail is in technical preview and Slack, Notion and Linear are still on the roadmap.
ShogunAI launched its Mac app on Product Hunt on October 23, 2026, after a first launch there in August 2026. Buying tip: AI usage is billed separately through your own provider, so add that cost to the plan price.
