Composio

Tool and auth layer that lets AI agents act in 1,500+ apps

Composio is a developer tools tool for Developers and Small businesses, offered as freemium ($29/mo). Founded in United States in 2023. Popular alternatives include Pipedream, Windmill, Postman.

About Composio

Composio is an integration platform that lets AI agents act inside apps such as Gmail, GitHub, HubSpot and Salesforce. It was founded in 2023 by IIT Bombay graduates Soham Ganatra (CEO) and Karan Vaidya, works from San Francisco and Bengaluru, and raised a Series A led by Lightspeed in July 2025. It handles the plumbing of agent tool use: per-user OAuth and API keys, tool definitions and sandboxed execution.

The catalog covers 1,500+ apps through Python and TypeScript SDKs, with packages for the OpenAI, Anthropic and Google SDKs, or via an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex. Webhook triggers let agents react to events, and admins can restrict, approve and audit calls. Hobby is free with a hard monthly cap, Pro is a $29 usage credit then per-call billing, and Enterprise adds SSO, customer-managed keys and a BAA.

Composio fits teams building agents that act for many end users. Pipedream Connect is the closest rival for code-first teams, and Zapier's MCP suits no-code users. Trust is the issue: Composio's incident page says an attacker accessed internal systems in May 2026, credentials for about 0.3% of active connections leaked and 5,241 API keys were flagged as potentially exposed; a September 16 update lists independent security reviews.

On October 20, 2026 Composio Instant finished #2 of the day on Product Hunt with 325 upvotes. It gives each agent a pay-per-call wallet for 100+ paid tools such as Apollo, with no provider keys; new wallets start with $2. Buying tip: bring your own OAuth apps, since managed apps use only 20,000 of the 100,000 free calls.

Key features of Composio

  • Managed OAuth and API-key storage for each end user of your agent
  • More than 1,500 app toolkits including Gmail, Slack, GitHub and Salesforce
  • Python and TypeScript SDKs with OpenAI, Anthropic and Google providers
  • MCP server that plugs into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex
  • Webhook triggers so agents react to events in connected apps
  • Action limits, approval steps and an audit log of every tool call
  • Instant wallet that pays per call for 100+ paid tools without API keys
  • Enterprise options for SSO/SCIM, customer-managed KMS keys and BAA

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Removes weeks of OAuth and token-refresh work per integration
  • Generous free tier of 100,000 tool calls a month
  • Works with most agent frameworks and any MCP client
  • Instant lets agents use paid data tools without separate subscriptions
  • Transparent per-call pricing with spend caps on Pro

Cons

  • May 2026 security incident exposed some customer credentials and API keys
  • Composio-managed OAuth apps count toward a smaller free allowance
  • Usage-based billing on Pro is harder to forecast than a flat fee
  • BAA, IP allowlisting and zero data retention cost extra on Pro
  • Tool quality varies across a very large, fast-growing catalog
