BeeBranch

Open-source desktop Git client for GitLab and GitHub teams

Open sourceDeveloper tools

BeeBranch is a developer tools tool for Developers and Enterprise, offered as open source. Popular alternatives include fastbrowse, Flagsmith, Insomnia.

About BeeBranch

BeeBranch is a free, open-source desktop Git client released under AGPL-3.0 by the developer behind Methamorphe. It is built with Rust, Tauri 2 and React 19, drives your installed Git (2.34 or newer), and keeps the local repository as the only source of truth, with no vendor account, no telemetry and no AI features.

It covers status and staging by file, hunk or line, commits with hooks and signing, stash, tags, worktrees, submodules and patches, plus a canvas-rendered commit graph, blame, search, merge and rebase with conflict handling, and streamed fetch, pull and push with explicit force-with-lease. Undo and redo cover operations Git can reverse, and an operation journal supports crash recovery. For self-hosted GitLab it shows merge requests and pipelines; for GitHub and GitHub Enterprise Server it shows pull requests, reviews, checks and Actions logs. Tokens live in the OS keychain.

It suits teams on self-hosted GitLab or GitHub Enterprise that want a free client without accounts or telemetry. Tower is more polished and has commercial support, and GitHub Desktop is simpler but GitHub-only. BeeBranch is very new, has one listed maker, has no Intel Mac build, and its interface is English or French only.

Version 1.0.0 was released on October 29, 2026 (1.2.2 followed a day later), and BeeBranch launched on Product Hunt on November 1, 2026. Buying tip: there is nothing to buy, but trial it on a non-critical repository first and use the built-in rollback if an update misbehaves.

Key features of BeeBranch

  • Staging by file, hunk or line with confirmed discards and blame
  • Canvas-rendered commit graph with filters and merge request or CI badges
  • Merge, rebase and conflict handling with continue, skip and abort

  • Self-hosted GitLab merge requests and pipelines
  • GitHub pull requests, reviews, checks and Actions logs
  • Tokens in the OS keychain or reuse of existing Git credentials
  • Signed, minisign-verified updates with rollback to the previous version

Pros and cons

Pros
