Qualtrics
Qualtrics is an experience management (XM) platform founded in 2002 in Provo, Utah, by Ryan Smith, his father Scott Smith, his brother Jared Smith and Stuart Orgill. SAP bought it for $8 billion in 2019, spun it off in a 2021 IPO, and in 2023 Silver Lake and CPP Investments took it private for about $12.5 billion. It runs surveys and analyzes feedback for large organizations.
The survey engine handles complex branching, quotas, multilingual and offline collection, and the platform adds text and sentiment analytics, role-based dashboards, predictive models and AI agents. Products are packaged by use case: Customer Experience is priced by interactions, Employee Experience by employee count, and Market Research by responses and video minutes, all with unlimited users. A free single-user account allows three active surveys and 500 responses in total, and the self-serve Strategic Research plan costs $5,040 a year for 1,000 responses with a 30-day trial.
It suits enterprises running CX programs across contact centers, locations and digital channels, HR teams running engagement surveys, and research teams. For simple surveys it is overkill: SurveyMonkey and Typeform are cheaper and faster for one-off forms, and Medallia is the main enterprise CX rival. Expect long contracts and volume-based costs.
In May 2026 Qualtrics completed its $6.75 billion acquisition of Press Ganey Forsta, adding healthcare experience data and the Forsta research platform. Tip: model your interaction volumes before negotiating, and use the free account to test survey logic before talking to sales.
Yotpo
Yotpo is an e-commerce retention platform founded in 2011 by Tomer Tagrin and Omri Cohen, with offices in New York, Tel Aviv, London, Toronto, Sofia and Sydney. It says more than 35,000 brands in 100 countries use it, from Shopify stores to enterprise retailers. Its core job is collecting customer reviews and photos, showing them on product pages and running loyalty and referral programs that bring shoppers back.
Reviews & UGC sends review requests, displays star ratings, photo and video reviews and Q&A on-site, feeds Google seller ratings, writes AI review summaries and syndicates reviews to retailers. Loyalty & Referrals covers points, VIP tiers, rewards and refer-a-friend campaigns. A newer Discover product tracks how AI assistants such as ChatGPT describe and recommend your products. Plans are priced by monthly order volume, with a limited free Reviews plan and a free Loyalty plan.
Yotpo fits growing DTC brands on Shopify and mid-market retailers that want reviews and loyalty from one vendor. It costs more than review-only apps such as Judge.me or Okendo, and order caps push stores up tiers quickly. ReferralCandy and GrowSurf are lighter options for referrals only, and Klaviyo now offers built-in reviews for brands already on its email platform.
Buying tip: Yotpo used to sell SMS, email and subscriptions, but its current site lists only Reviews, Loyalty and Discover, so plan on a separate messaging tool. The pricing FAQ mentions Reviews from $15 a month while the plan card shows $89, so confirm the quote.
