Clips by Plastic

Desktop app that turns one song into beat-synced lyric video ads

Clips by Plastic is a video & screen recording tool for Creators and Agencies, offered as freemium. Based in United States. Popular alternatives include Runway, Invideo AI, OpusClip.

About Clips by Plastic

Clips is a lyric and lip-sync video maker for Mac and Windows from Plastic, a small music app studio run by Patrick Ono, LLC in California. It was built by music artist Kai Williams while promoting his own album. You drop in a finished song plus your own footage or photos, and Clips cuts every part of the song into vertical videos on the beat, with lyrics synced word by word, so artists can test several ads instead of guessing one.

Clips detects the tempo and the sections (verse, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge), turns each into a clip, adds a hook line on top and exports up to 15 videos at once, every part on every backdrop, with files named for Meta Ads Manager. It has 66 color presets and 54 beat-synced effects, animates still photos and lines up a lip-sync take with the song. It works offline, so unreleased songs stay on your computer. The free version has every feature with a small tag; Artist ($99 once) removes it, and Label / Studio ($299 once) adds client work.

It suits independent artists and small labels that buy Instagram or TikTok ads for releases. CapCut and VEED are general editors with auto captions, but you assemble each ad variant yourself; Clips does one job only. Exports are vertical 1080 x 1920 or square 1080 x 1080, and it needs macOS 14 or Windows 10 or 11 with 8 GB of RAM.

Clips launched on Product Hunt on October 25, 2026 and finished #10 of the day; the listing showed a 20% launch discount. Buying tip: make a full batch in the free version for an old song, and buy the license only when you are ready to spend on ads, backed by the 30-day refund.

Common use cases

  1. 1Testing every section of a new single as a paid Instagram or TikTok ad
  2. 2Turning a lip-sync phone video into synced lyric clips
  3. 3Making release teasers from photos when there is no music video
  4. 4Producing ad batches for a label roster under one license
  5. 5Promoting back-catalog songs between releases

Best for

Independent artists and small labels who promote songs with paid social ads and want many beat-synced variants fast.

Not ideal for

Creators who need a general-purpose editor for long-form, horizontal or non-music video (CapCut, VEED).

Our take

Clips is a sharp, fairly priced tool for musicians who already run song ads: it turns an evening of manual cutting into a batch export and keeps unreleased music offline. Try the free version on a past release, and buy the Artist license only once a test campaign shows the workflow pays off.
