Formspree
Formspree is a form backend service for static websites and front-end applications. Instead of writing server code, developers point an HTML form's action attribute at a Formspree endpoint, or use its React library, and Formspree receives the submission, filters spam, emails a notification and stores the entry in a dashboard. It became a standard choice in the Jamstack world and is a built-in option in site builders such as Carrd.
Beyond the endpoint, Formspree offers spam protection with reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha and its own filtering, file uploads, custom redirects and autoresponses on paid plans, a submission archive with export, and integrations that forward data to tools like Google Sheets, Mailchimp, Slack, Airtable, Zapier and webhooks. Plans are priced by monthly submission volume, with unlimited forms on every plan: the free tier allows 50 submissions per month, and Personal, Professional and Business tiers raise limits and add team access, integrations and more advanced features.
Formspree fits developers and designers who build static sites with Astro, Next.js, Hugo or plain HTML and simply need forms to work reliably. It is not a visual form builder, so non-technical users who want to design surveys and quizzes will be happier with Tally, Typeform or Jotform. Netlify Forms is the obvious alternative for sites hosted on Netlify, Basin is a similar form backend, and Web3Forms offers a lighter free option for contact forms.
SurveyMonkey
SurveyMonkey is one of the oldest online survey platforms, founded in 1999 by Ryan Finley. Its parent company, renamed Momentive for a period, was taken private by STG in 2023 and returned to the SurveyMonkey name. It is widely used for customer satisfaction, employee engagement, event feedback, academic research and market research.
Surveys are built from templates and a large bank of expert-written questions, with skip and display logic, piping, randomization, quotas and A/B testing of questions. AI features help draft surveys and summarize open-ended answers. Results appear in analysis dashboards with filters, crosstabs and text analysis, and benchmarks let you compare scores such as NPS with industry averages. SurveyMonkey Audience sells access to a global respondent panel for market research. Integrations cover Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Teams, Slack and others. The free plan is very limited; individual plans such as Standard and Advantage unlock more responses, logic and exports, and Team plans add collaboration with a minimum of three users.
SurveyMonkey suits organizations that run surveys regularly and value analysis, benchmarks and panel access. Surveys can be created in many languages, including Turkish. Paid plans are expensive for occasional users, and the free plan hides most responses. Typeform offers a more engaging one-question-at-a-time experience, Google Forms and Tally are free for simple surveys, Jotform is strong for forms, and Qualtrics covers enterprise experience management.
