Formbricks
Formbricks is an open-source survey and experience management platform from a Germany-based team, positioned as a privacy-friendly alternative to Qualtrics and Typeform for product feedback. Its focus is in-app and website surveys that appear to the right users at the right moment, plus classic link surveys, available either as a managed cloud or self-hosted on your own infrastructure.
Developers install a JavaScript, React Native or mobile SDK, then product teams define who sees a survey using user attributes, actions and page events, with controls for display frequency and recontact. Question types cover NPS, CSAT, ratings, open text, multiple choice, matrices and file uploads, with logic and hidden fields. Responses flow to a dashboard with filters and summaries and can be sent to Slack, Notion, Airtable, webhooks or Zapier. The community edition is free to self-host; cloud plans add response volume, team features and enterprise options such as SSO.
Formbricks fits product and UX teams that need targeted in-app feedback and care about data residency, including European companies working under GDPR. It is younger than its commercial rivals, the template library and analytics are lighter, and self-hosting means maintaining updates and a database. Typeform is stronger for polished marketing forms and quizzes, Sprig and Hotjar Surveys offer hosted in-app research, and Qualtrics remains the enterprise standard for large experience programs.
Typeform
Typeform is a form and survey builder founded in Barcelona in 2012 by David Okuniev and Robert Muñoz. It popularized the conversational format that shows one question at a time with smooth transitions, which feels more like a dialogue than a long page of fields and tends to raise completion rates for lead generation, surveys and quizzes.
Builders get polished templates, logic jumps and branching, hidden fields for tracking, calculators and scoring for quizzes, payment collection through Stripe, file uploads, and video questions through VideoAsk, its sibling product. Typeform AI can generate forms from a prompt and summarize open-ended answers, and more than 100 integrations send responses to HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Sheets, Slack, Mailchimp and automation tools. Pricing is based on monthly responses and seats: the free plan allows only 10 responses a month, then Basic, Plus, Business and Enterprise add responses, branding removal, custom domains, drop-off analytics and compliance features.
Typeform suits marketing and research teams that care more about brand experience and conversion than about the cost per response. It becomes expensive for high-volume collection, and the one-question format is slower for long internal forms. Tally offers a generous free plan with unlimited responses, Jotform covers complex forms and approval workflows, and Google Forms is enough for simple internal surveys.
