About Geneva
Geneva was a free group chat and community app built for clubs, fan groups, hobby circles, creators and groups of friends. Bumble acquired it in 2024 to expand beyond one-to-one matching into group friendships, and in September 2025 Bumble relaunched its BFF app on Geneva's technology and shut down the standalone Geneva app, with existing members moved to Bumble BFF together with their groups and messages.
While it was active, Geneva organised a community into a home with multiple rooms, each of which could be a chat, a forum-style post feed, an audio room, a video room or a broadcast channel. Owners could schedule events, moderate members and make homes public or invite-only, and everything was free on iOS, Android and the web. There were no paid plans, no built-in subscriptions or ticket sales and very few integrations, so it was a place to talk rather than a platform to run a business.
Groups that used Geneva now need a new home. Bumble BFF is the direct successor for friendship and interest groups, Discord remains the default for gaming and large online communities, WhatsApp Communities and Telegram groups are where many groups already live, and Circle, Skool or Mighty Networks fit paid and business communities that need memberships, courses, branding or analytics. New communities cannot pick Geneva, because the standalone app has closed.
