Hedra fits creators, marketers and storytellers making short character-driven content such as animated mascots, explainer hosts, podcast visualizers and stylized avatars, including non-human or illustrated faces. Clips are short, results can occasionally look uncanny, and responsible use of real people's likeness is the user's responsibility. For corporate training avatars and presenter videos Synthesia and HeyGen offer more business features such as templates, translation and team workspaces, while D-ID covers similar photo-to-video animation with interactive agents.

Midjourney is an independent, self-funded research lab based in San Francisco and led by founder David Holz, whose image generator is widely regarded as the most aesthetically refined on the market.
