Backblaze

Backblaze is a publicly traded storage company from San Mateo, California, founded in 2007, that runs its own data centers and sells two products. Computer Backup continuously backs up an entire Mac or Windows PC, including attached external drives, for a flat monthly price with no data cap. B2 Cloud Storage is S3-compatible object storage priced per terabyte, positioned as a much cheaper alternative to Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage and Azure Blob Storage.

Computer Backup offers version history, restores through the web and the app, and the option to have data shipped on a USB drive. B2 includes free egress up to three times the data stored each month, free transfer through partners such as Cloudflare, object lock for immutable, ransomware-resistant backups, and integrations with tools like Veeam, Synology, QNAP, rclone and media asset managers. The first 10 GB of B2 storage is free, and billing beyond that is simple and predictable.

Backblaze suits individuals and creatives who want set-and-forget workstation backup, and developers or IT teams storing backups, media archives and app uploads cheaply. It is not a sync or collaboration tool like Dropbox, it offers far fewer regions and services than AWS, and very large Computer Backup restores can be slow. Against Wasabi it competes on egress terms and ecosystem, and against IDrive on simplicity. The company is also known for publishing quarterly hard drive reliability statistics from its own fleet.

Keepit

Keepit is a SaaS data protection company founded in 2007 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It backs up cloud applications into its own vendor-independent infrastructure, so copies of your Microsoft 365, Entra ID or Salesforce data sit outside the provider you are protecting against. Backups are immutable and logically air-gapped, and customers choose among seven global data regions.

Coverage is broad: Microsoft 365, Entra ID including conditional access policies, Intune settings and BitLocker keys, Power BI, Dynamics 365, Azure DevOps, Google Workspace, Salesforce with sandbox seeding, Zendesk, Jira, Confluence, Okta, Docusign, BambooHR, Miro, GitHub and monday.com. Pricing is quote-based across three tiers that differ by retention, storage geography and support: Core Continuity with five-year recovery, Business Resilience with ten-year recovery and multi-geo storage, and Enterprise Resilience with a dedicated customer experience manager. Unlimited retention is an add-on.

Keepit fits mid-size and large organizations, especially in Europe, that must prove recoverability for NIS2, DORA or audits across several SaaS apps and their identity layer. Spanning is simpler for pure Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace backup, and Afi offers fast recovery with more transparent pricing.

Keepit raised $50 million in December 2024 led by One Peak and Denmark's EIFO, and IDC named it a Leader in its 2025-2026 SaaS data protection MarketScape. As a price reference, its UK G-Cloud 14 listing showed £3.98 per user per month in 2024; negotiate volume and multi-year terms.
