Appcircle
Appcircle is a mobile DevOps platform that grew out of Smartface, a mobile development company with roots in Turkey; the two products for mobile CI/CD were announced in 2019. The legal entity is Appcircle Inc. in the US, while much of the engineering is in Istanbul. Its core job is automating how iOS and Android apps are built, signed, tested and shipped, including inside banks and other regulated enterprises.
The platform is split into modules: Build for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter on Apple Silicon machines; Testing Distribution to send builds to testers by email, QR code or a portal; an Enterprise App Store for in-house apps without MDM; Publish to App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery with approval gates; CodePush for over-the-air React Native updates; and Signing Identities for certificates and keystores. Appcircle AI diagnoses failed builds and offers an MCP server. A free Starter plan covers small projects, and the Corporate plan is quoted per module.
Appcircle fits enterprises that cannot send source code to a public cloud, since it can run on private cloud or fully self-hosted on Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift with SSO and LDAP. Its named customers include Ziraat Teknoloji, Halkbank and Intertech. For small teams, Bitrise and Codemagic are better known, and Firebase App Distribution or Expo cover lighter testing and update needs at lower cost.
The free Starter plan includes 20 builds a month with 30-minute builds, 1,000 CodePush updates and 5 store publishes. Paid Corporate pricing is not public and is billed as an annual license.
Sentry
Sentry is an application monitoring platform focused on errors and performance. It began in 2008 as an open-source project by David Cramer and is developed by Functional Software, Inc. in San Francisco. SDKs for JavaScript, Python, Java, Go, Ruby, PHP, .NET, mobile platforms and game engines capture exceptions with stack traces, breadcrumbs, user and release context, then group them into issues that can be assigned and linked to the commits that likely caused them.
Over the years Sentry has added distributed tracing, profiling, Session Replay that shows what a user did before an error, cron and uptime monitoring, release health for mobile apps, logs, and Seer, an AI agent that analyzes issues, proposes root causes and can draft code fixes. Pricing is based on event volume per product, with a free Developer plan for one user, Team and Business plans that add users, quotas, retention and SSO, and Enterprise contracts. The code is published under the Functional Source License and can be self-hosted, though most teams use the cloud service.
Sentry fits engineering teams of any size that want to know quickly when and why code breaks in production. Costs grow with traffic, so sampling and quotas should be configured early, and alert rules need tuning to avoid noise. Datadog and New Relic cover broader infrastructure observability with metrics and logs, Bugsnag and Rollbar are focused error-tracking alternatives, and LogRocket overlaps on session replay for frontend teams.
