Appcircle

Appcircle is a mobile DevOps platform that grew out of Smartface, a mobile development company with roots in Turkey; the two products for mobile CI/CD were announced in 2019. The legal entity is Appcircle Inc. in the US, while much of the engineering is in Istanbul. Its core job is automating how iOS and Android apps are built, signed, tested and shipped, including inside banks and other regulated enterprises.

The platform is split into modules: Build for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter on Apple Silicon machines; Testing Distribution to send builds to testers by email, QR code or a portal; an Enterprise App Store for in-house apps without MDM; Publish to App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery with approval gates; CodePush for over-the-air React Native updates; and Signing Identities for certificates and keystores. Appcircle AI diagnoses failed builds and offers an MCP server. A free Starter plan covers small projects, and the Corporate plan is quoted per module.

Appcircle fits enterprises that cannot send source code to a public cloud, since it can run on private cloud or fully self-hosted on Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift with SSO and LDAP. Its named customers include Ziraat Teknoloji, Halkbank and Intertech. For small teams, Bitrise and Codemagic are better known, and Firebase App Distribution or Expo cover lighter testing and update needs at lower cost.

The free Starter plan includes 20 builds a month with 30-minute builds, 1,000 CodePush updates and 5 store publishes. Paid Corporate pricing is not public and is billed as an annual license.

Insomnia

Insomnia is an open-source desktop API client and design tool. Gregory Schier created it in 2015, and Kong, the San Francisco API gateway company, acquired it in 2019. The core is Apache 2.0 licensed on GitHub, where the repository has around 40,000 stars. Its core job is to let developers send, debug and test API requests, design OpenAPI specs and mock endpoints from one app.

It supports REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, Server-Sent Events and Socket.IO, plus an MCP client for testing Model Context Protocol servers. Projects can live locally, in Git or in Kong's cloud with optional end-to-end encryption, and a Scratch Pad works without an account. Scripts, an unlimited collection runner, mock servers and the Inso CLI round it out. Essentials is free with Git Sync for up to 3 users, Pro adds unlimited users and RBAC, and Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM and storage policies.

Insomnia fits developers who want a lighter, local-first alternative to Postman and teams already using Kong Gateway or Konnect. Collaboration and documentation features are thinner than Postman's, and the 2023 decision to require accounts for syncing upset part of its community. Postman remains the broadest platform, Apidog bundles design, docs and testing in one workspace, and Stoplight is stronger for design-first API governance.

Insomnia 13 shipped in June 2026 with native Kong Konnect integration, which pulls routes, endpoints and configuration from Konnect into the app. Pro is $12 per user a month or $10 billed annually, and Enterprise comes with a 14-day free trial.
