Akinon

Akinon is an enterprise commerce platform founded in Istanbul that serves large brands and retailers in Turkey, the Middle East and Europe. It provides the building blocks a retailer needs to run complex omnichannel operations: headless storefronts, an order management system (OMS), product information management (PIM), marketplace integrations, mobile apps and tools that connect online sales with physical stores.

Because it is headless and API-first, brands can build their own storefront experience while Akinon runs the commerce engine underneath. The OMS routes orders across warehouses and stores, supporting scenarios such as click and collect, ship from store and cross-channel returns. The PIM centralizes product content and pushes it to the web store, mobile apps and marketplaces, while marketplace integrations manage listings, stock and orders on major regional platforms from one place. Pricing is enterprise and quote-based, and projects usually involve an implementation phase with Akinon or a partner agency.

Akinon fits large fashion, retail and consumer brands that have outgrown SaaS storefronts and need to orchestrate stock and orders across many channels and countries. It is far more than a small or mid-size shop needs, and the budget and project timeline reflect that. Salesforce Commerce Cloud, commercetools and Shopify Plus are the main international alternatives, while ikas and Ideasoft serve smaller Turkish merchants.

Ecwid by Lightspeed

Ecwid is an e-commerce platform that adds an online store to a website a business already has. Founded in 2009 and acquired by Canadian commerce company Lightspeed in 2021, it works as an embeddable store that can be placed on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or any HTML site, or published as a standalone Instant Site when there is no website yet.

One catalog syncs across the website, social channels such as Facebook and Instagram, Google Shopping and, on higher plans, marketplaces like Amazon and eBay, with inventory and orders managed from a single dashboard and mobile app. Built-in features include discount coupons, abandoned cart emails, digital products, tax and shipping settings, many payment gateways and POS integrations for in-person sales. Plans are tiered mainly by the number of products and sales channels: a low-cost Starter plan for up to 10 products, then Venture, Business and Unlimited plans that raise product limits and unlock marketplace selling, staff accounts and advanced tools.

Ecwid suits bloggers, creators and small businesses that want to start selling without migrating their site. It is less customizable than a full commerce platform, its app ecosystem is smaller, and stores growing into thousands of products or complex catalogs usually outgrow it. Shopify is the stronger all-in-one choice for brands built around their store, WooCommerce gives WordPress users more control, and Square Online is convenient for businesses already using Square POS.
