DeepL
DeepL is a machine translation service from DeepL, a company based in Cologne, Germany, that grew out of the Linguee online dictionary and launched its translator in 2017. It is known for output that reads more naturally and keeps nuance better than many competitors, especially for European languages, and it supports Turkish among its 30+ languages.
Users translate text in the browser, desktop and mobile apps, or whole documents such as Word, PowerPoint and PDF files while keeping their formatting. Glossaries enforce company terminology, formality settings switch between formal and informal tone in languages that distinguish them, and DeepL Write rephrases and corrects text to improve grammar and style. DeepL Voice brings real-time speech translation to conversations and meetings. Businesses integrate the DeepL API into websites, apps, CMSs and support tools, and many localization platforms such as Crowdin, Lokalise and Weglot use DeepL as a translation engine. A free tier has character and document limits, while the per-user Individual, Team and Business plans raise character and file limits and add CAT tool integration and data security guarantees.
DeepL fits professionals, translators and companies that need high-quality drafts quickly, particularly in Europe where its German base and data handling help with compliance. Its language coverage remains narrower than Google Translate, which is better for rare languages and free large-scale use. Large language models are now a serious alternative for context-aware translation.
Rask AI
Rask AI is an AI video localization tool made by Brask Inc., a generative AI content company registered in Delaware. It claims more than 4 million users. Its core job is to take a video, transcribe it, translate it into another language and dub it with a cloned version of the original speaker's voice, optionally re-syncing lips so the speaker appears to talk in the new language.
It translates video and audio into 135+ languages and clones voices in 32 of them. Other tools include multi-speaker detection, a translation dictionary for brand terms, prompt-based translation tuning, an editor for line-by-line fixes, SRT subtitle export and import, a YouTube video translator for videos up to five hours, and APIs for dubbing, lip-sync, voice cloning, transcription and subtitles. Plans are minute-based: Creator (25 minutes a month), Creator Pro (100 minutes, lip-sync), Business (250 minutes, team review and batch upload) and Enterprise with API access and SLA.
Rask fits YouTubers, course creators, marketing teams and media companies that want to republish existing video in many languages quickly. Quality still needs a human check for idioms, names and emotional delivery, and minutes run out fast on long content. HeyGen is stronger for avatar video plus translation, ElevenLabs leads in voice quality and dubbing API depth, and Smartcat suits teams that want human linguists in the loop.
Caveat: the pricing page shows a limited-time yearly discount and warns that prices are changing soon, while its FAQ still lists older, higher plan prices; confirm the final amount at checkout.
