Cin7
Cin7 is a cloud inventory and order management platform for product businesses that sell across several channels. The company started in New Zealand and in 2021 acquired DEAR Systems, whose product became Cin7 Core; the original platform continues as Cin7 Omni for larger, more complex operations. Both keep stock, orders, purchasing and fulfilment in sync across webshops, marketplaces, wholesale buyers and physical stores.
Core covers multi-warehouse stock, purchasing and supplier management, light manufacturing with bills of materials and assembly, a B2B wholesale portal, point of sale and integrations with Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce and accounting tools such as Xero and QuickBooks. Omni adds deeper EDI, 3PL and retail features for higher volume and more custom processes. Pricing is subscription based with tiers that scale by users, sales channels and order volume, and implementation and onboarding services are often recommended.
Cin7 fits growing brands that have outgrown spreadsheets or the inventory features of a single store platform, especially those mixing B2C and B2B. It is expensive for small single-channel shops, needs real setup effort and has a dense interface. Katana is stronger for manufacturing-centric businesses, Linnworks for marketplace-heavy sellers, Zoho Inventory and inFlow are cheaper for smaller catalogues, and NetSuite suits companies that want a full ERP.
ShipStation
ShipStation is a web-based shipping and order management platform for e-commerce sellers, founded in Austin, Texas. It was acquired by Stamps.com in 2014, and after Thoma Bravo took Stamps.com private in 2021 the group was renamed Auctane, which also owns ShipEngine and other shipping brands. ShipStation's job is to pull orders from every sales channel into one place and turn them into shipped packages as quickly as possible.
It imports orders from more than a hundred marketplaces and carts, including Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce, then applies automation rules to choose carriers, services and packaging. Users compare rates across carriers with discounted USPS, UPS and DHL rates in the US, print labels and packing slips in batches, send branded tracking emails and run a returns portal. Inventory, multi-warehouse and reporting features support growing sellers, and an API connects custom systems. Pricing is monthly by shipment volume, with user limits per tier.
ShipStation fits small and mid-size sellers shipping from hundreds to thousands of orders a month across several channels, mainly in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. User limits, a dated interface and support quality are common complaints, and it is overkill for occasional shippers. Pirate Ship is free for low-volume US shippers, Shippo is simpler with pay-as-you-go pricing, Easyship focuses on international shipping, and Sendcloud is the leading option for European stores.
