CapCut
CapCut is a video editor developed by ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, available on iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and the web. It became the most popular editing app among short-form creators because it combines a free, capable editor with templates and effects that follow social media trends, and exports directly to TikTok.
The editor covers multi-track timelines, keyframes, speed ramps, transitions, filters, green screen and chroma key, plus a large library of music, stickers and text styles. AI features generate automatic captions, remove backgrounds, convert text to speech, enhance voices, upscale video, reframe clips for different aspect ratios and cut long videos into short highlights. Templates let users drop their footage into trending formats. Core editing is free, and CapCut Pro adds premium effects, advanced AI tools and more cloud storage; teams can share assets through cloud workspaces.
CapCut fits creators, social media managers and small businesses producing Reels, TikToks and Shorts quickly. Businesses should read its terms carefully: some assets carry restrictions for commercial use, data handling has drawn scrutiny because of its ownership, and the app was briefly unavailable in the United States in January 2025 during the TikTok divestment dispute. Adobe Premiere Pro suits professional workflows, DaVinci Resolve offers a free professional editor, and Canva and VEED are simpler browser-based options for marketing teams.
Tella
Tella is a screen recording tool for making polished product demos, tutorials and presentations without a video editor. It records the screen and camera together, then applies layouts, backgrounds, automatic zooms on clicks and smooth transitions, so the result looks produced rather than captured. Founders, product marketers, educators and creators are its core users.
Recording happens in clips: each segment can be retaken, trimmed or reordered on its own, which removes the pressure of getting a long take right. Layout presets switch between full screen, side-by-side and camera-only views, and captions and transcripts are generated automatically. Videos are shared by link with viewer analytics, embedded on websites and docs, or exported in up to 4K for YouTube and social channels. Serious use requires a paid, per-user plan after a trial: Pro covers unlimited videos, 4K export and AI editing credits, and Premium adds a custom domain, Tella branding removal and more advanced analytics.
Tella fits anyone publishing screen videos that represent a product or brand, from launch videos to help center tutorials and course lessons. It is less suited to quick internal updates, where Loom is faster and more widely known, and to complex editing, where Descript or a full video editor gives more control. Screen Studio is the closest competitor on Mac for attractive zooms and motion, while Arcade and Supademo create interactive click-through demos instead of video.
