Botpress
Botpress is a platform for building AI agents and chatbots powered by large language models. The Canadian company began with an open-source chatbot framework and later rebuilt the product as a cloud platform centered on a visual studio, where builders combine autonomous LLM nodes with structured workflows and can drop into JavaScript code whenever a step needs custom logic.
Agents draw on knowledge bases built from websites, documents and tables, call external systems through more than 100 integrations, and deploy to web chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Slack, Microsoft Teams and other channels. Human handoff, analytics, versioning and role-based collaboration are layered across plans. Pricing starts with a free plan of 100 conversations, then Plus and Team plans priced by included monthly conversations, with extra conversation packs and an AI usage allowance; usage beyond that allowance is billed, so the total cost depends on traffic and the models you choose.
Botpress fits developers, agencies and product teams building several agents that must follow defined processes and connect to real systems. Non-technical users who simply want a website bot trained on their content will be faster with Chatbase, Voiceflow offers a more design-oriented collaboration experience for conversation teams, and support organizations already on a help desk may prefer Intercom Fin or Zendesk AI agents. The product evolves quickly, so older tutorials and community answers can go out of date.
Chatfuel
Chatfuel is a no-code chatbot platform founded in 2015 that started as one of the first Facebook Messenger bot builders and now positions itself as an AI sales agent for WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. It is an official Meta Business Partner and WhatsApp Business Solution Provider, so it runs on the official WhatsApp Business API rather than unofficial workarounds.
Businesses build flows in a visual editor or let the AI agent answer questions, qualify leads, reply to post and Reels comments, book meetings, send payment links in chat and push leads into a built-in CRM and shared inbox. Bulk WhatsApp campaigns, Meta Pixel conversion tracking and per-ad-creative reporting tie conversations to ad spend. Plans include unlimited contacts and messages with a fair-use AI allowance, or you can connect your own OpenAI key. Pricing has two tiers, Business and Agency, both with a free trial.
Chatfuel fits small businesses, ecommerce shops and agencies selling through Meta channels. ManyChat is the closest rival with a larger creator community and stronger Instagram growth tools, Landbot is better for website conversational forms, and Voiceflow suits teams designing complex custom agents. Meta's own WhatsApp conversation fees apply on top of Chatfuel's subscription.
Recent additions include a Chatfuel MCP server, which lets you manage bots from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, and an SDK for building white-label agents. The pricing page lists only yearly prices, which carry a 10 percent discount, so confirm the monthly-billing price before committing.
