Bettermode

Bettermode, formerly known as Tribe, is a customer community platform for SaaS and digital businesses. It lets companies run a branded community on their own domain where customers ask questions, share ideas, follow announcements and join events, and it can be embedded inside a product or help center so members do not have to go somewhere else.

The platform combines discussion spaces and Q&A, a knowledge base, idea and feedback boards with voting, events and member profiles, with a block-based page builder and templates for layout. Integrations with Slack, Zapier and popular CRM and support tools push community activity into the rest of the stack, and SSO keeps one identity across product and community. Pricing is tiered by features and community size, with no free plan but a free trial; higher plans unlock custom domains, branding removal, more admins and advanced integrations, with enterprise options for larger brands.

Bettermode fits product companies that want community to reduce support load, collect feedback and build advocacy. It needs a moderator and a content plan to stay active, and costs rise as a community grows. Circle is better for creators selling courses and memberships, Discourse offers an open-source forum with full control, and enterprise vendors such as Khoros or inSided (now part of Gainsight) target large support organizations.

Hivebrite

Hivebrite is a community management platform headquartered in Paris, France. The company was legally established in 2012 and launched the platform commercially in 2015, and it now says more than 2,000 organizations in over 25 countries use it. It is built for organizations that run private, branded member communities rather than open forums: universities, associations, nonprofits and companies with customer or partner networks.

The platform combines a member directory, events and ticketing, memberships and donations, groups, email campaigns, mentoring and member journeys with a back office for administrators. In July 2024 Hivebrite acquired Orbiit, an AI matching company, and now offers AI-based member matching, AI agents, workflow automations and an MCP server. Optional extensions add a branded iOS and Android app, 25+ languages, CRM connectors and mentoring. All plans include unlimited users; Core starts at $895 and Flex at $1,995 a month, billed annually.

Hivebrite fits institutions that care about member data, governance and integrations with AMS, CRM and LMS systems such as iMIS, Blackbaud, Salesforce or Canvas. Creator-led communities will find Circle or Mighty Networks cheaper and faster to launch, Bettermode is more flexible for SaaS customer communities, and Discourse suits open discussion-heavy forums.

Buying tip: plans differ mainly in admin seats, group managers and number of groups, so map your chapter or sub-community structure before talking to sales. The mobile app, extra languages and CRM connectors are extensions priced on top of the platform fee.
