Auphonic
Auphonic is an automatic audio post-production service from Graz, Austria. You upload a recording, pick a preset, and its algorithms level loudness between speakers, normalize to broadcast and podcast targets such as -16 LUFS, remove noise and hum, filter out low rumble and balance multitrack recordings so every voice sits at the same level. It then encodes the result in the formats you need and can publish straight to podcast hosts, YouTube, Dropbox or an FTP server.
Beyond cleanup, Auphonic adds speech recognition for transcripts and subtitles, automatic chapter marks, cut detection for fillers and silences, and ID3 metadata with cover art. Pricing is based on processing hours: a free tier gives two hours a month, recurring plans add more hours each month, and one-time credits never expire, which suits shows that publish irregularly. A REST API and desktop apps let teams automate the whole pipeline.
It is ideal for podcasters, radio stations, universities and video producers who want consistent, professional sound without learning mixing. It is not an editor: you cannot cut a story or rearrange segments, so it is usually paired with Audacity, Descript or a DAW. Compared with Adobe Podcast Enhance, Auphonic gives more control over loudness targets and output formats; compared with manual processing in iZotope RX, it is faster and far cheaper but less precise on difficult recordings.
Notta
Notta is an AI transcription and meeting notes app launched in 2020, with Japan as a key market; the company says more than 5,000 companies and 15 million people use it. In December 2025 it announced a Series B of about ¥2.3 billion (roughly $15 million) led by Granite-Integral Capital. Its core job is turning meetings, interviews and audio files into searchable transcripts and AI summaries across many languages.
Notta transcribes in 58 languages, joins Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex calls with a bot, records in the browser and on mobile, imports audio and video files, identifies speakers and produces AI summaries with templates. It also offers transcript translation, bilingual transcription and real-time translation as add-ons, plus Notta Brain for asking questions across recordings. The free plan gives 120 minutes a month with a 3-minute limit per recording. Pro adds 1,800 minutes and exports, Business adds unlimited minutes, video recording and CRM and Zapier sync, and Enterprise adds SSO and audit logs.
Notta fits multilingual teams, researchers and journalists who need accurate transcripts in languages beyond English. Otter.ai is stronger on English-only meetings, Fireflies on CRM and conversation intelligence, and tl;dv on video clips. The free plan is too restrictive for real meetings.
Buying tip: the pricing page shows annual prices with about 40% off; bilingual transcription and real-time translation are limited to a few free uses a month and cost extra beyond that, so budget them if you mix languages in meetings.
