Auphonic

Auphonic is an automatic audio post-production service from Graz, Austria. You upload a recording, pick a preset, and its algorithms level loudness between speakers, normalize to broadcast and podcast targets such as -16 LUFS, remove noise and hum, filter out low rumble and balance multitrack recordings so every voice sits at the same level. It then encodes the result in the formats you need and can publish straight to podcast hosts, YouTube, Dropbox or an FTP server.

Beyond cleanup, Auphonic adds speech recognition for transcripts and subtitles, automatic chapter marks, cut detection for fillers and silences, and ID3 metadata with cover art. Pricing is based on processing hours: a free tier gives two hours a month, recurring plans add more hours each month, and one-time credits never expire, which suits shows that publish irregularly. A REST API and desktop apps let teams automate the whole pipeline.

It is ideal for podcasters, radio stations, universities and video producers who want consistent, professional sound without learning mixing. It is not an editor: you cannot cut a story or rearrange segments, so it is usually paired with Audacity, Descript or a DAW. Compared with Adobe Podcast Enhance, Auphonic gives more control over loudness targets and output formats; compared with manual processing in iZotope RX, it is faster and far cheaper but less precise on difficult recordings.

Libsyn

Libsyn (Liberated Syndication) is one of the oldest podcast hosting companies, founded in 2004 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and still hosting a large share of long-running independent and network shows. Beyond hosting and RSS distribution, it runs a podcast advertising business that grew sharply after it bought the ad marketplace AdvertiseCast in 2020; the company reported about 48% growth in podcast ad revenue for 2025.

All plans include audio and video hosting, IAB-certified download statistics, a customizable podcast website and player, multi-user access and distribution to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and more than 20 other platforms. Monetization options include PodRoll cross-promotion, automatic podcast ads and Apple Podcasts Subscriptions. Plans are priced by monthly audio upload hours rather than storage: Basic gives 3 hours, Advanced 10 hours with advanced stats and Spotify video, Max 55 hours, with custom Professional and Enterprise tiers for networks.

Libsyn suits established podcasters and networks that value IAB-verified numbers and ad revenue. Buzzsprout is friendlier for beginners and has a free tier, Captivate offers unlimited uploads and stronger growth tools at a flat price, and Transistor allows unlimited shows on one plan, which Libsyn does not.

Buying tip: every plan has a 30-day free trial, but a credit card is required at signup. Upload allowances reset every month, so pick a tier by your busiest month, not your average one; weekly 60-minute shows fit Advanced.
