Apidog
Apidog is an all-in-one API development platform that puts design, debugging, testing, mocking and documentation in one tool, so a team works from a single OpenAPI-based source of truth instead of passing specs between Swagger, Postman and a docs site. It runs in the browser and as desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, and it markets itself directly as a cheaper Postman alternative.
Designers build endpoints and JSON Schemas in a visual editor; developers send requests over HTTP, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, SOAP and SSE with Postman-compatible scripts; QA builds visual test scenarios, scheduled runs and performance tests; schema-driven mocks need no code; and interactive docs publish with custom domains. Sprint branches, Git connection, a CLI for CI/CD and self-hosted runners round it out. The free plan covers up to four users; Basic, Professional and Enterprise are billed per member, and documentation readers are free.
It fits teams that want to replace Postman plus a separate docs and mock tool. Stoplight and Redocly are stronger for pure design governance, ReadMe and Mintlify produce more polished public developer portals, and Postman has the larger ecosystem. Apidog's mock and docs features are less mature for large public API programs.
Recent releases focus on AI: an MCP server that feeds API specs to Cursor and other AI editors, an MCP client and AI agent debugger, AI test case generation and schema compliance checks. Apidog also offers an EU data region and an on-premises edition. Import a Postman collection during the 14-day trial to compare.
Highlight.io
Highlight.io is an open-source monitoring platform that combines session replay, frontend and backend error monitoring, logging and distributed tracing in one product. It was acquired in 2025 by feature flag vendor LaunchDarkly, which built its own observability product on Highlight's technology. The hosted Highlight.io service was retired at the end of February 2026 and customers were moved to LaunchDarkly Observability; the open-source code remains available for self-hosting.
The core workflow ties a user-facing problem to its root cause: a session replay shows what the user did, and the error that occurred is linked to the backend trace and to the logs emitted during that request. SDKs cover popular frontend frameworks and backend languages, and OpenTelemetry is supported for traces and logs. The code is open source and can still be self-hosted; while it ran, the hosted version offered a free tier with a monthly allowance of sessions, errors and logs and pay-as-you-go pricing above that.
Today Highlight mainly suits teams that want to self-host replay and errors in one tool and can maintain the code themselves, since the project no longer has an official hosted service or vendor roadmap. Teams that want the same approach as a managed product should evaluate LaunchDarkly Observability, especially if they already use LaunchDarkly. Sentry offers deeper error monitoring and its own session replay with a much larger community, LogRocket and PostHog are strong on product-side replay and analytics, and OpenReplay is another self-hostable open-source replay option.
