Ahrefs

Ahrefs is an SEO toolset from a Singapore-headquartered company founded in 2010 by Dmitry Gerasimenko. It is built around one of the largest live backlink indexes and a web crawler that ranks among the most active on the internet after Google's, and it is used by SEO professionals, agencies and content teams to understand why sites rank and how to compete with them.

Site Explorer shows any domain's backlinks, referring domains, organic keywords, top pages and traffic estimates; Keywords Explorer researches keywords for Google and other search engines including YouTube and Amazon; Site Audit crawls your site for technical issues, Rank Tracker monitors positions, and Content Explorer finds popular content on any topic. Newer additions such as Brand Radar track how often brands appear in AI answers and Google AI Overviews. Paid plans are tiered by users, history and limits, with usage limits on lower tiers, while free Ahrefs Webmaster Tools give site owners audits and backlink data for their own verified sites.

Ahrefs fits agencies, in-house SEO teams and content-driven companies that need reliable backlink and keyword data every day. Its prices start higher than most competitors and usage limits on lower plans frustrate heavy users. Semrush is the closest rival with stronger PPC and market research tools, SE Ranking and Mangools cover the basics for less, and Screaming Frog complements Ahrefs for deep technical crawling.

Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that shows keyword data directly on the pages marketers already use. When you search Google, it displays search volume, cost per click and competition next to the query, along with panels of related and long-tail keywords, and similar overlays appear on YouTube, Amazon, Bing and other sites.

Beyond the search overlay, it offers trend charts, metrics for the URLs ranking on a results page, on-page keyword density and page analysis, YouTube channel and video metrics, backlink data and bulk keyword exports. It is sold on credits: each keyword lookup consumes credits, and plans are bought annually in tiers starting with Bronze, so cost depends on how much data you pull. That makes it far cheaper than a full SEO suite for light use, but harder to budget when every search consumes credits.

The tool suits bloggers, content writers, small business marketers and YouTubers who want quick volume checks while browsing without paying for Ahrefs or Semrush. The data is estimated, credits can run out quickly, and it lacks rank tracking, site audits and deep competitor analysis. Ahrefs and Semrush are the full suites, Ubersuggest is a cheaper all-round tool, and Google Keyword Planner is free for basic volume ranges.
