Ada

Ada is an AI customer service platform from Toronto, founded in 2016 by Mike Murchison and David Hariri. It started as a no-code chatbot builder and has repositioned itself as an agentic customer experience platform: AI agents that answer and resolve customer inquiries end to end across messaging, email and voice, rather than deflecting them to a help article.

The agent orchestrates several large language models, reads your knowledge base, and uses Actions to call your systems so it can look up orders, change bookings or issue refunds. Playbooks encode multi-step standard operating procedures, and the platform includes testing, coaching, analytics and an automated resolution metric to track how many conversations finish without a human. Ada lists SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR and PCI DSS compliance. There is no self-serve plan: pricing is quote-based after a sales demo.

Ada fits large consumer brands with hundreds of thousands of support conversations a year, such as Pinterest, monday.com, Grab and Life360. Smaller teams usually get faster value from Intercom Fin or Tidio Lyro, which price per resolution and install in an afternoon. Zendesk AI agents make more sense if you want to stay inside one helpdesk vendor, and Decagon and Sierra are the main newer enterprise rivals.

In February 2026 Ada launched a unified Reasoning Engine that powers its agents across all channels from one intelligence layer. When evaluating, ask for a pilot on your own transcripts and compare the automated resolution rate, not deflection, against your current baseline.

Front

Front is a customer operations platform founded in 2013 by Mathilde Collin and Laurent Perrin, with roots in Paris and headquarters in San Francisco. It looks like an email client but works like a help desk: shared inboxes for email, chat, SMS, WhatsApp and social messages sit next to each person's own inbox, so teams can collaborate on customer conversations without switching to a ticketing mindset.

Teammates assign conversations, mention colleagues in internal comments, see when someone else is replying and co-draft responses. Rules route messages, enforce SLAs and balance workload; analytics track response times and team performance; a knowledge base and chat widget handle self-service. Front AI drafts and summarizes replies, tags conversations and answers routine questions. Integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Jira and many other tools show customer context in a sidebar. Plans are priced per seat: Starter for teams of up to 10, Professional for up to 50 with omnichannel support, and an annual-only Enterprise plan with advanced AI, analytics and security features.

Front fits B2B support, account management, logistics, financial services and agencies, where relationships live in email and several people touch one thread. It is expensive per seat, and its ticket-style reporting is weaker than Zendesk's. Help Scout is cheaper and simpler, Zendesk and Freshdesk are better for high-volume consumer support, and Hiver keeps a shared inbox inside Gmail.

Front has been expanding AI features across routing, drafting and autonomous answers, sold alongside its seat-based plans.
