Activepieces

Activepieces is an open-source automation platform, with its community edition released under the MIT license, that positions itself as a friendlier and more predictable alternative to Zapier and Make. Built by a Y Combinator-backed startup, it lets operations, marketing and product teams connect apps and automate repetitive work through a visual flow builder, while developers extend it with TypeScript 'pieces' that become reusable integrations.

Flows support branches, loops, code steps, approval steps that wait for a human, and AI steps that call language models or run agents. The catalog covers 280+ pieces, and those pieces are also exposed as MCP tools so AI agents can act on connected apps. You can self-host the community edition for free with Docker, use credit-based cloud plans that range from a free tier to Plus and Team, or license an embed edition that puts white-labeled automation inside your own SaaS product.

Activepieces fits startups and mid-size teams that want automation with predictable costs, and SaaS companies that want an embeddable integration layer. Its catalog is far smaller than Zapier's thousands of apps, so niche integrations may need a custom piece or an HTTP step. n8n offers more raw power and a larger self-hosted community but a steeper learning curve and a fair-code license; Make is inexpensive in the cloud but proprietary; Zapier remains the easiest choice when breadth of integrations is the only priority.

D·engage

D·engage (often written Dengage) is a customer experience data platform, or CXDP, that pairs a composable customer data layer with native messaging. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in London, it has offices in Istanbul, Dubai and Islamabad, 170+ staff and 200+ brands in 30+ countries. Published case studies include Beymen, Fibabanka, Sportive and MCB Funds. In September 2025 it raised a strategic round led by TIBAS Ventures, Isbank's venture arm, with Vestel Ventures, Gelecek Etki VC and Invest 101 participating.

The platform unifies online, offline and transactional data into a single customer view on a star-schema model, can query live data in your own systems without copying it, and activates audiences through email, SMS, WhatsApp, web and mobile push, in-app and on-site messages, and ad retargeting. Zeki AI predicts intent and next best action and helps draft content. Packages are Core, Pro and Enterprise, all quoted; only Enterprise adds on-premise hosting, unlimited data points and messaging.

It fits retailers, airlines, banks and telcos that need high send volumes and, in regulated cases, an on-premise deployment. Insider is the closest regional rival with more e-commerce personalisation templates, while Customer.io and Klaviyo are lighter, self-serve choices for smaller teams.

Buying tip: the vendor advertises a two-month implementation, so plan data mapping work up front. Its trust center lists ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and KVKK compliance, which shortens security reviews for Turkish banks.
