Absorb LMS

Absorb LMS is a cloud learning management system from Absorb Software, headquartered in Calgary, Canada. It is used by more than 3,700 organizations to run compliance, onboarding, upskilling and external training, and was named a Leader in the 2025 Forrester Wave for learning management systems. In 2026 the company moved its web presence from absorblms.com to absorbai.com to emphasize its AI features, while the product keeps the Absorb LMS name.

The core LMS handles courses, learning paths, certifications, automated enrollment rules, with separate branded portals for employees, customers and partners. Add-on modules extend it: Absorb Create for AI-assisted course authoring, Engage for social learning and gamification, Analyze for reporting, Skills for skill mapping across 12,000+ job skills, Amplify with 20,000+ ready-made courses, and a commission-free eCommerce module for selling courses. Pricing is quote-only and based on learner volume.

Absorb fits mid-size and large organizations, including those that train frontline staff, resellers or franchisees, and want one platform with strong admin automation. Docebo is the closest enterprise rival with a heavier AI and content marketplace pitch, while TalentLMS is far cheaper and faster to launch for small teams with published pricing.

In May 2026 Absorb introduced Absorb Aura, a set of AI agents that answer learner questions, draft courses and automate admin work. When requesting a quote, ask which modules are bundled, since Create, Engage and Analyze are typically priced separately.

Skool

Skool is a community platform that combines a discussion feed, a classroom for courses, a calendar for events and a gamification system in one simple product. It was created by entrepreneur Sam Ovens, and investor and author Alex Hormozi became a co-owner in 2023, which helped make it a common choice among coaches and online business creators.

Each group has a community feed with categories, a classroom with modules and lessons that can unlock at certain levels, a shared calendar for calls and events, and member profiles with points, levels and leaderboards that reward participation. Payments are built in, so creators can charge monthly, annual or one-time fees, and groups can also be free. Skool's discovery page lists public groups and can bring in new members. There are two plans: Hobby with a low monthly fee and a 10 percent transaction fee, and Pro with a higher flat fee, a 2.9 percent transaction fee, unlimited courses and members, and a custom URL.

Skool's simplicity is deliberate: every group looks the same, customization and branding are minimal, courses are basic and there is no native email marketing. In exchange, setup takes minutes and the gamification keeps engagement high, so coaches running paid communities and masterminds get the most out of it. Circle and Mighty Networks offer more branding, spaces and integrations, Kajabi adds funnels and email for course businesses, and Thinkific or Teachable are stronger when the course itself is the product.
